I'm baaaaack. Finally.

I'm sticking with my solid D+ for 2014 so far, as February was of similar ilk to January, only one less death. But I have adjusted my brain that MARCH WILL BE NOTHING BUT AWESOMENESS. So far, I give it a C+. But I digress.

Because I'm still a wee bit addled from this month*, going to begin a series called "My Lunches This Week" where every Sunday(-ish), I'll post what I'll be eating for lunch in the coming week.

So.......<drum roll please>........<fitting since the Oscars are tonight, eh?>..........

The award for Jen's Lunch This Week is........

Creamy Polenta with Tomato Ragout.

So far, I give 2014 a solid D+.

I don't really like to make generalizations or be negative but. Yeah. So. 2014. Can basically suck it at this point.

What a month.

Jeez-o-pete.

I am hoping the months of January and March just swapped cheesy-tag lines, such that January will go out like a lamb. It sure came in like a lion.

Side note: no open casket for me. Unless you get the mortician to add a unicorn horn to my forehead and add a tiara of your choice first. Otherwise, burn me, plant me and party like m'er-f'ers. <the end>.

Suffice it to say, I am really hoping to bring to you more posts of interest, than posts of weirdness, in the next week or so. But hope everyone out there is staying warm, safe, healthy, and hydrated.

The Little Holiday Tree That Could.

Our Chez is still dressed to its' holiday nines. A combination of sheer laziness and THE POLAR VORTEX, i.e. it is too damn cold. Although at this point, what we have up are outside lights on one tree, two inside trees and plastic bins of "stuff", like ornaments, decor, etc. that just need to be taken to the basement. It just all seems like a lot (when really, it's not).

#FirstWorldProblems <cubed>

My favorite new thing this year was a hack I discovered at Home Depot in the fall. Way before any normal person would think of decorating, but clearly well into what retail establishments felt was OK to have. I have since found out that Pinterest was all up in this idea ages ago, but since I do not Pinterest (or pin, as is the preferred nomenclature), I thought it was totally brilliant and totes new.

Please Stay On Path. More or Less.

If age has taught me anything, it is to truly expect the unexpected. Hopefully, with an open heart and mind; lacking that, at least some patience. I'd be lying if I said it always goes with a zen-like attitude,  but it is for what I strive.

In creating my list of goals for 2013, I started putting together a list of goals for 2014 in December, and referred to it a few times until 2014 was right.there. I think it's always a struggle in putting together a list like that; one wants to be optimistic and challenge oneself, but there is also reality to keep in mind. And the inevitable happenstance of chance and change and LIFE, which means one never has any idea what will happen between January 1 and December 31.

Note: noticed today that Spouse has one breakfast burrito left, so guess what one of my chores is tonight? :)
