Unexpected Outcomes in Facial Toners.

Been trying some new concoctions for facial toners, so thought I'd share with y'all. There was my original toner concoction that I've used since spring of 2013, and blogged about as part of my Homemade Facial Cleansing Cloths. Still an oldie and a goody, but always fun to experiment.

Pretty sure, this should be on every post.
And possibly tattooed on my forehead.

Updates GALORE. Plus homemade toothpaste.

Chez Nash Humphrey has had an influx of visitors in a short time, so evenings have been mashed into chores and chillaxing because I'm tired from the chores. Oh and it's football season, so work has been all a flurry.

I'll get back to regular posts shortly but did have some updates planned so I'm smushing all of them together into one, fairly lame, post.  Sorry, peeps but I am throwing in my homemade toothpaste recipe and review. I know you are on the edge of your seat.

My Inner Hippie Adorns Itself.

Along with a greater interest in small town living and food sourced closer to where I live, another interesting off-shoot of my time in The 'Shire was a changed concept of the natural beauty of women and more specifically, how we choose to adorn ourselves.

Here in the "Big City", you go anywhere, on any day and the majority of women you will see will be wearing at least some make-up, more than likely have hair which has been highlighted and/or colored, have toe and hand nails painted - that sort of thing.

In The 'Shire, you would be lucky to find a woman who has done one of the above beauty regiments. Is it the closer relationship to the land around them, or just a simplified beauty aesthetic - I don't really know. All I know is it was different and I really liked it. I truly find it interesting how much time, effort and moola is sunk into one idea of beauty here, when a simpler concept of beauty is the norm there.

For the last decade or so, I've slowly been going more and more "hippie" in my choices of crap-I-put-on-my-body: hair products, face stuff, makeup, nail color, etc. I will pay more for items which aren't petroleum based, which have derivatives of fruits, veggies, etc. Am I sucker? Maybe, but honestly, I think this crap makes me look and feel better so whatevs.

A Girl Has Got To Know Her Limits.

An interesting off-shoot, of the whole "move-more-cook-whole-foods" thing I'm engaged in, is it is a slippery slope. I figured out that I could do it, that I was doing it and then as my scope increased, so did the scope of the things I was interested in reading and researching.

Enter DIY and hacks.

Confession:

  • I am a fan of social media. I am on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, and Foursquare and use them daily (in most cases). But I ABJECTLY REFUSE to be on Pinterest. I feel like it is The Black Hole of the Interwebz. Even more so that LOLCatz
  • If you love it, awesome - I'm super happy for you. But as most positions in and on life, I don't mind at all what others do (short of raping, murdering, corporate thievery), so long as you don't give me crap for what I do. Capiche?
  • That's the general warning that all of the DIY stuff I find, and potentially try, is NOT found on Pinterest. Just the Interwebz. .
Even without Pinterest, there are more than enough sites, articles, etc. to keep oneself in DIY projects.
