Never Allow My Sister To Be Unsupervised Near A Label Maker.
My sister, her spouse and some friends crashed at Chez Nash Humphrey one night while we were on The Very Special Adventure. All was completely well, but there was a small carton of whipping cream left in the frig upon our return (which is no big deal). I noticed though that she had added this small label to the carton, since I'd left my label maker on the end of the island counter, i.e. completely accessible. I am wondering where else in my house I may come upon labels on things......she's a mite predictable, that one.
There was just enough whipping cream for me to put it to good use with further experimentation with Toffee Saltines. So thanks to our houseguests for the whipping cream - it was used!

Homemade Yogurt. Easier than you think.
I love yogurt. A lot. I eat it every day. At first, I ate it
because I liked it. Then I realized how important the active cultures are to my
gut health - especially since Spouse likes to remark I have the stomach of a cat. Then, with the rise of Greek style yogurts, I ate that because it
is substantially higher in protein (and I honestly prefer the thicker texture).
But at $1+ per container or the larger containers just being
hard to navigate, I started investigating alternatives. At first, I did some
research on yogurt making machines but those seemed a little confusing +
expensive. Then one of my
favorite blogs had a post on how she makes homemade
yogurt – in a machine but the first comment mentioned making yogurt in a
crock pot. I’m always trying to come up with new things to do in my crock pot
so I googled “crock pot yogurt” instead. WOW. Who knew.

An Ode to My Muse(s). And Toffee Saltines.
For a lazy person, this is already the fourth try to start this post. What the what? I guess it's because the recipe I'm about to lay on you came from my dear friend & soul twin, Sydney. And I miss her something terrible. Especially right now, as it is the year anniversary of Leaving The 'Shire <sad face>.
Sydney was my neighbor in The 'Shire and became my confidante, my purveyor of fine food and beverage, my guru & reference to all things Upper Valley (including a vast number of its' residents, as she knows at least 85% of the people that live there) - and my inspiration to start this blog.
